Brussels, 11/12/2013 (Agence Europe) - The final formal legislative steps involved in cohesion policy reform are about to be completed. On Wednesday 11 December, Coreper gave the go-ahead to the version of the legislative package approved by the legal and linguistic services. The European Parliament adopted this version during December's plenary. This will enable the Council to now adopt the reform on Monday 16 December as Point A item at the Foreign Affairs Council. Everything will therefore be completed in time and the new rules on structural funds will be in force from 1 January 2014. Operational programmes with €325 billion in funding from the cohesion envelope for the 2014-2020 programming period will now be able to be put into place. (MD/transl.fl)
