Brussels, 22/11/2013 (Agence Europe) - On 21 November, the European Commission and the Competition Commission of India signed a memorandum of understanding aiming to strengthen cooperation on enforcing competition law. Under the framework established, the parties will be able to discuss their respective legislation, exchange non-confidential information on the legislation and its enforcement and on multilateral competition initiatives and advocacy, and to engage in technical cooperation. The memorandum of understanding also allows the two authorities to ask their counterpart to take measures to respect legislation if anti-competitive action is conducted on its territory. Lastly, the memorandum of understanding provides for a conflict-prevention mechanism if one authority's enforcement measures have an effect on the enforcement measures of the other authority.
