Brussels, 22/11/2013 (Agence Europe) - MEDREG, the association that brings together energy regulators of 21 countries of the Mediterranean basin convened at the beginning of the week its general assembly in Grasse (France) where, according to a press release, it held a “high-level debate on regulatory challenges in European and Mediterranean energy markets”. The general assembly thus discussed the “requirement for attracting infrastructural investments in the energy sector of the Euro-Mediterranean region”. Representatives of the regulatory authorities, as well as delegates from industry and finance, attended the meeting.
MEDREG is in its starting phase, as its president, Michel Thiollière, explained. It is calling for the EU to support it in order to strengthen this sectoral dialogue. The MEDREG general assembly welcomed the signing of a strategic financing contract with the European Commission (MEDREG III) for the period 2013-2016. Support was first given in 2008. (FB/transl.jl)
