Brussels, 26/03/2013 (Agence Europe)- The Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) between the European Union and the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) has been strengthened on matters specific to aviation security. An annex has been added to the MoC providing for closer collaboration in the exchange of information and expertise, in regulatory and standard-setting matters, and in training. The decision on the annex was taken on 18 March during a meeting in Montreal between the services of DG Move at the European Commission and the IACO secretary general, Raymond Benjamin. Both parties also agreed in principle on consolidating their efforts with regard to air safety auditing. They did not rule out extending the MoC to other areas, notably in the area of air traffic management.
