Brussels, 18/03/2013 (Agence Europe) - The Bureau of the EuroMed Parliamentary Assembly met at the end of last week at the premises of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) in Barcelona to demonstrate its support for the UfM and the closeness of the relations the two would like to see installed. The meeting took place under the chairmanship of European Parliament President Martin Schulz and other bureau members, the president of the Moroccan Chamber of Representatives, Karim Ghellab and the president of the Jordanian Chamber of Representatives, Saed Hayel Srour.
An official press release stated that “we take note of and support the substantial progress made by the secretariat of the UFM in the implementation of several projects and underline the importance of moving forward in this direction, to provide further economic impetus and more investment, to the benefit of countries in the southern Mediterranean”. The press release indicates that debate focused on the preparations for the summit of parliamentary presidents of the UFM countries, which will take place in Marseilles on 6-7 April next. The next annual General Assembly of the PA-UFM will take place in Brussels on the 11-12 April. (FB/transl.fl)
