Transparency Register makes “promising start”

Brussels, 27/11/2012 (Agence Europe) - According to the first annual report, the Transparency Register of interest representatives, asset up jointly by the European Commission and the European Parliament in June 2011, is working and all the objectives set for the first year of activity have been achieved. The Commission sees in this a “promising start” for the new instrument. With both institutions keen to build on the success, the report sets out the objectives for next year and proposes key issues to be considered in the 2013 assessment. Commission Vice-President Maros Sefcovic said he was “proud” of the “successful” launch of the register. While recognising that a number of technical issues had to be solved in the first year, he said that the register exists and works. EUROPE will return to this matter. (OL/transl.fl)
