Brussels, 27/11/2012 (Agence Europe) - On 27 November, the ministers for sport adopted three sets of conclusions. The first concerns the strengthening of available data with a view to developing sport policy - although research has been conducted in several member states to measure the economic impact of sport, it is not currently possible to compare the results of this research. This document highlights the need to have a robust statistical framework for purposes of comparison. The second conclusions document focuses on setting up a strategy to fight against the manipulation of sport results - in a domain where the EU can bring a real added value. The EU's work plan for sport for 2011-2014 has already made the fight against match rigging one of its priorities. Lastly, the third set of conclusions focuses on the promotion of physical activity that is beneficial to health and calls on the member states to reflect on the ways of supporting the practice of a physical activity that is beneficial for health and on the participation in sport by all.
