Brussels, 27/11/2012 (Agence Europe) - European Commission President José Manuel Barroso will set out Commission priorities for the coming year to the Committee of the Regions (CoR) on Thursday 29 November. The last CoR plenary session of the year, on 29-30 of this month, will provide Barroso with the opportunity to set out the Commission's work programme for 2013 and give elected regional representatives the chance to question him on the detail. The CoR will also take stock of the failure of the European Summit on the European Union's multiannual financial framework (MFF) on 22-23 November, and will adopt an opinion on the summit, the rapporteur on which is Mercedes Bresso (PES, Italy), former CoR President and current Vice-President. In plenary session, the representatives of the regions will also discuss the Common Strategic Framework on which reform of cohesion policy is built, with rapporteur Lambert Van Nistelrooij (EPP, Netherlands), before adopting the opinion of Marek Wozniak (EPP, Poland) on this issue. The CoR is expected also to adopt opinions on the protection of workers temporarily posted abroad, and a range of environmental issues. (MD/transl.fl)
