Brussels, 15/10/2012 (Agence Europe) - Euromesco, the think tanks network and the Euro-Mediterranean Institute for political research and security met up on 4-5 October 2012 in Barcelona where they adopted a work programme with the objective of improving the potential and future developments of the network and its members at a time when speed and the historic character of events in the region require a better understanding of the factors and actors involved in the political transition and conflicts affecting several countries.
The think tanks will take into account the difficult budgetary context, provide mutual support, as well as develop joint research projects and documents. They hope to develop an independent, objective and serious insight into the changes and evolutions that have affected and are affecting the Mediterranean area. At the same time, they are seeking to develop much closer relations with the European Union and underline the “necessity” of the network having appropriate resources for enhancing its analysis and training capacities in this crucial period.
