Brussels, 24/07/2012 (Agence Europe) - With just a few days before the start of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games start in London (27 July-12 August), it is time for consumers planning to attend the sporting events to know what to do in the case of transport, accommodation, health or shopping problems, the European Commission states. Hence the web page that it opened on Monday 23 July to remind everyone of a few useful “tips” for a stress-free trip to the Olympics and back.
The webpage reminds consumers of their rights which are guaranteed by EU legislation such as passengers' rights in the event of flight cancellation or delay or boarding refusal, or the legal guarantee for goods purchased in the EU opening up the right to repair or replacement free of charge in the event of defective goods. It provides consumers with links to web pages of the UK European Consumer Centre and information for access to health insurance, as well as the EU-wide emergency number, 112.
The creation of the webpage is the result of a partnership between Europe Direct, the Commission's information service, the UK Citizens' Advice Bureau and the European Consumer Centres Network (ECC-Net).
