24/07/2012 (Agence Europe) - Proposed acquisition of Plastal France by Faurecia in automotive supply sector approved. The European Commission gave approval on Monday 24 July to the proposed acquisition of Plastal S.A.S., a French subsidiary of the Swedish Plastal group, by Faurecia SA, controlled by PSA Peugeot Citroën S.A. of France. Both companies are suppliers to the automotive sector. The Commission concluded that the transaction would not raise competition concerns because the merged entity will continue to face a sufficient competitive constraint “as the merged entity would continue to face several credible competitors on these markets”. The Commission examined the effects on competition of the proposed transaction in the markets for the manufacture and supply of bumpers and front end carriers for light vehicles. (OL/transl.rt)
