Brussels, 01/06/2012 (Agence Europe) - Trade and green growth, topics favoured by the Danish Presidency, were high on the agenda of a meeting of EU trade ministers on Thursday 31 May. The Danish trade minister, Pia Olsen Dyhr, said the ministers had stressed the importance of promoting free trade in environmental goods and the EU committing to such products in its bilateral trade talks. The ministers discussed how to garner support for a multinational deal to remove tariff and non-tariff barriers to the trade in environmental goods and services. Commissioner Karel De Gucht said the EU would try and get international partners to open up their markets, explaining that the idea is to reach the critical threshold for each country signed up to an international trade deal.
