Loan to Pierre Fabre laboratories

Brussels, 22/11/2011 (Agence Europe) - The European Investment Bank (EIB) has pledged to take part in the funding of pharmaceutical research programmes, especially in the field of biotherapy, with Laboratoires Pierre Fabre. On Friday 18 November, concrete substance was given to the commitment with the signing of a funding contract amounting to €100 million between Laboratoires Pierre Fabre and the EIB.

The bank loan will allow funding for R&D projects currently conducted by Laboratoires Pierre Fabre for the discovery of new molecules of natural, chemical or biological origin. The main therapeutic areas covered by these future compounds are oncology, neuropsychiatry and dermatology, which are medicine priorities for Laboratoires Pierre Fabre. Projects supported by the EIB will cover the discovery, pre-clinical development (pharmacokinetics, pharmacology, toxicology, etc) or clinical development (phase 1, 2 or 3). All projects concerned by funding are piloted from France in the main research centres of the Laboratoires Pierre Fabre in Toulouse (on the Oncopôle campus dedicated to cancerology), in Saint-Julien-en-Genevois (Haute-Savoie) and Castres (Tarn).
