Migration - Six MEPs go to tunisia

Brussels, 12/07/2011 (Agence Europe) - A delegation of six MEPs will be in Tunisia on13-16 July to visit refugee camps and meet representatives from the authorities, international organisations and NGOs. The delegation will have meetings with the Tunisian foreign minister and other ministers. The objective of this visit is to discuss the refugee situation and its impact on the European Union particularly in terms of migration. The delegation will include Simon Busuttil MEP (EPP, Malta). In a press release, Busuttil stated that Europe had to meet the challenges created by this situation, particularly the way in which refugees are treated and the humanitarian aid situation, as well as the aid situation in Tunisia, which has been put under pressure by people fleeing the conflict in Libya. Other members of the delegation include Claude Moraes (S&D, United Kingdom), Judith Sargentini (Greens/EFA, Netherlands), Agustín Díaz de Mera García Consuegra (EPP, Spain), Nathalie Griesbeck (ALDE, France) and Sylvie Guillaume (S&D, France).
