17/06/2011 (Agence Europe) - Mergers: Beckman Coulter/Danaher. On 17 June, the European Commission approved the proposed acquisition of sole control of Beckman Coulter by Danaher, two US companies. The former operates in markets relating to clinical (in-vitro) diagnostics, and the latter is a diversified technology company active internationally in various sectors (industry, environment, diagnostics and biomedical research). The Commission examined the effect of the transaction notified on 6 May on the market for sales of clinical in-vitro diagnostics material and concluded that it would not significantly impede effective competition in the European Economic Area (EEA).
