17/06/2011 (Agence Europe) - Russia's accession to WTO will not be at any price, warns Medvedev. Russian President Dmitri Medvedev is confident his country will join the WTO, world trade's governing body, by the end of the year, but warns that Moscow will not be prepared to pay any price for accession. “I believe that it is realistic to expect that things will be completed this year unless, of course, political games start up again. We have been ready for accession for a long time, longer than other countries, but people are trying to wring too many concessions out of us. Russia will not accept decisions which are clearly to its disadvantage”, he warned at the opening of the Saint Petersburg Economic Forum. Accession talks, which were begun in 1993, speeded up at the end of 2010 with approval by the United States and the EU but still face the stumbling block of disagreement with Georgia.
