Employers -negotiations after summer on working time?

Brussels, 14/06/2011 (Agence Europe) - The European employers' organisation, BusinessEurope, has proposed to the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC) to negotiate the directive on working time. Negotiations could start after the summer. BusinessEurope says that it is ready but that everything would depend on the response from the European unions.

During the meeting of its Council of presidents on 10 June in Budapest, the BusinessEurope member federations adopted a mandate for entering negotiations with the European unions to revise the above-mentioned directive.

BusinessEurope asked its members for their responses on how they could tackle the legal problems created by the European Court of Justice on working time and maternity leave. (G. B./transl.fl)
