Brussels, 01/04/2011 (Agence Europe) - The EU and Israel have launched a project to provide Israel with technical assistance in telecommunications. Member states will send experts to Israel to help it come to terms with Community rules. A first meeting of this “twinning”, as such projects, designed to help the countries of the Mediterranean and Eastern European “neighbourhoods”, are known in Brussels, took place in Jerusalem on 28 March.
The scheme, known as “Assist the Israeli Telecommunications Regulator to establish greater approximation to the European Union regulatory approach, specifically with wholesale markets” will be managed by the Israeli Communications Ministry with the cooperation of the German Federal Network Agency, the Italian Authority for Communications and the Spanish Telecommunications Market Commission.
