01/04/2011 (Agence Europe) - Appointment. Maria Marinaki of Greece has been appointed managing director in charge of global and multilateral issues at the European External Action Service (EEAS). In a press release, Catherine Ashton, who heads the EEAS, justifies this appointment by highlighting the rich experience of this Greek diplomat, who is currently still her country's representative with the OSCE in Vienna. Maria Marinaki, who has also served at the Foreign Ministry and in the Greek representations in Washington, Berlin, Vienna and Brussels, is above all expected to deal with very varied international issues at the EEAS, such as human rights and non-proliferation.
