Brussels, 24/03/2011 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday 24 March, the European Parliament returned a favourable opinion on the Council recommendation that Peter Praet be appointed to the Board of the European Central Bank (ECB). Praet (Belgium) was chosen to replace Austrian Gertrude Tumpel-Gugerell whose term of office ends in May (see EUROPE 10338). The Parliamentary recommendation was adopted by 527 votes to 37, with 71 abstentions.
