03/03/2011 (Agence Europe) - Oettinger: no concessions to Russia on unbundling. The EU will not give in to the requests from Russia for exemption to new Community rules on the internal market in electricity and gas which aim to separate the production/supply activities and the transport activities of vertically integrated groups, Energy Commissioner Günther Oettinger said as he inaugurated the Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators in Ljubljana on 3 March. “The Russian partners have to accept our rules”, he told press on Thursday. Moscow is unhappy with 3rd energy liberalisation package rules, which force energy groups from non-EU supplier countries to give up control of network infrastructure in the EU. The dispute between Brussels and Moscow on this issue came to a climax at last week's meeting between the European Commission and the Russian government (see EUROPE 10323). (E.H./transl.rt)
