Brussels, 23/02/2011 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday 24 February at 8.00am, ETS online transactions registries in Belgium, Estonia and Luxembourg will be able to resume their normal course of operations. On Tuesday evening, the Commission announced this news, which follows careful assessment of the independent security report that these three member states submitted to the Commission in compliance with minimum-security rules required since the piracy attacks launched on 19 January at 7.00pm. This led the Commission to suspend all online European Trading System registries in the European carbon market.
The Commission considers that these three countries have provided “reasonable assurances” that these requirements have been put into place. Its decision means that ten out of the EU 27 national registries are now fully operational. Germany, France, Spain, the Netherlands, Portugal, Slovakia and the United Kingdom had all previously received the Commission's go ahead (EUROPE 10316). (A.N./transl.fl)
