13/09/2010 (Agence Europe) - On Monday 13 September, the EU Council of Ministers adopted its position on draft amending budget No 7 to the general budget for 2010 (DAB7/2010). This covers the setting up of the budget structure for the European Financial Stabilisation mechanism based on Article 122(2) of the Treaty. This adjustment of the current budget will see a new budget item created on the expenditure side and a corresponding new budget article on the review side, with a token entry (p.m.) for commitment and payment appropriations as well as revenue. No financial provision is requested for this DAB. If necessary, the Commission will propose making available the appropriations needed by means of transfers or amending budgets. On 9 May 2010, the Council decided to enact a full set of measures, which included this financial stabilisation mechanism, to maintain financial stability in Europe. (L.C./transl.rt)
