02/09/2010 (Agence Europe) - EU member states are expected to give their approval at the meeting of the committee of permanent representatives (COREPER) on Friday 3 September to a series of amendments to the technical specifications for interoperability (TSI) of certain sub-systems of both the conventional and high-speed trans-European rail system. The decisions will refer to specifications relating to the: operation and traffic management sub-system of the conventional rail system, and to elements of maintenance of this sub-system, such as equipment for washing train exteriors; - the energy sub-system of the conventional rail system. All these specifications, drafted following recommendations from the European Rail Agency, seek to adapt the rail network to technical progress and to ensure interoperability between the various parts of the network at European level.
