23/02/2010 (Agence Europe) - The Spanish Presidency of the EU wants a “strong European Commission to defend the Community method”, said Prime Minister José Luis Zapatero following a meeting of his government with the College of European Commissioners in Madrid on Tuesday 23 March (see related article). For Spain, being pro-European means, first and foremost, “supporting the Commission, the guardian of the treaties, the institution which has to take new initiatives for the good of all member states,” Zapatero told press.
