Brussels, 23/02/2010 (Agence Europe) - The Commission states it has given its go-ahead to starting up the second phase of the Mediterranean Hot-Spot Investment Programme (MeHSIP-PPIF), an investment programme for funding projects relating to reducing pollution in the Mediterranean.
The aim of the programme is to help the countries of the region meet the norms required within the framework of international financial intervention. The aid ceiling for funding assistance may be around €6.2 million for the region as a whole, the Commission says. Granting financial assistance, agreed in association with the European Investment Bank (EIB), is subject to the beneficiary country's resulting commitment and the guarantee of proof of financial viability for projects.
