Commission provides €1.3 million for victims of drought in Guatemala

Brussels, 08/01/2010 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has decided to allocate €1.325 million in emergency humanitarian aid for the most vulnerable people in the Guatemala “dry corridor”, a region bordering on Honduras and Salvador and which has been suffering from a severe drought caused by the El Nino phenomenon.

The funding will come from the budget of ECHO (European Commission Humanitarian Aid Office) and will enable 20,000 beneficiaries to survive the period between the...
