State of Union examined by new think-tank

Brussels, 08/01/2010 (Agence Europe) - Nine think-tanks set up in Brussels (Bertelsmann Stiftung, Bruegel, CEPS, Egmont Institute, EPC, Friends of Europe, IFRI, Madariaga, SWP) have decided for the first time to join forces to take stock of the state of the European Union since entry into effect of the Lisbon Treaty. This project developed in cooperation with Agence Europe should take place over time in the form of an annual forum devoted to the Union's politico-strategic agenda. The first Brussels forum, geared to combating climate change after Copenhagen, the Stockholm programme, the economic and social crisis and the external dimension of European Union action, will be held on 12 January 2010 at the “Résidence Palace” in Brussels. It will be closed by the president of the European Commission, José Manuel Barroso. For further information and registration: matt.dann@bruegel.org (O.J./transl.jl)
