Member state finalise EU mandate for international climate talks, but decision on internal allocation of financial burden is again postponed

Brussels, 30/10/2009 (Agence Europe) - Following bitter financial discussions on the EU's international arrangements, and thanks to the fierce determination of the President in office Fredrik Reinfeldt in Brussels on Friday 30 October, the European Council was able to finalise the EU negotiating mandate of the UN climate conference in Copenhagen, where, in six weeks time, it is hoped that a global climate deal will be agreed for the period after 2012 (COP 15, 7-18 December).
