13/11/2006 (Agence Europe) - An EU Troika will visit Nepal from 15 to 17 November, to meet in particular representatives of the Nepalese government, the UN Secretary General's personal representative Ian Martin, and members of civil society. The Troika will discuss the peace process in the country, with the government of Nepal and the Maoists of the CPN-M due to sign a peace agreement on 16 November. Pekka Metso Asian director at the Finnish foreign ministry, James Mora n, head of unit with responsibility for southern Asia at the European Commission, and Thomas Wriessnig, representing the forthcoming German Presidency of the EU, will form the Troika. Prior to this visit, on 13 and 14 November, the European Troika will visit Bhutan to discuss the democratisation process, the future Constitution and the up-coming elections. (ab)
