30/04/2002 (Agence Europe) - CSU elected member Bernd Posselt expressed indignation about the new appeals being made to the EU by the President of the Czech Parliament, Vaclav Klaus, so that the EU guarantees the Benes decrees (on this subject, see EUROPE of 29/30 April, p.18), in writing. Mr Klaus said that, otherwise, he could not recommend that voters approve EU membership, notes Mr Posselt in a press release. He states: "The anti-European Klaus apparently wants to make the EU membership process fail, but by making others the scapegoats". Mr Klaus is playing with fire, said Mr Posselt, who is vice-Chairman of the EP delegation the EU/Czech Republic Joint Parliamentary committee and also President of the organisation of the Sudentenland Germans.
