19/12/2001 (Agence Europe) - Bodo Hombach, Special Coordinator for the Stability Pact for South East Europe whom the EU has just replaced by Austrian Erhard Busek (see EUROPE of 10/11 December, p.6), criticised the Commission and the Parliament in no uncertain terms in the Wednesday edition of the weekly Stern. "We could have God as a president of the Commission but the only result would be that, in stead of taking six days to create the world, He would take eight years", said the German politician, adding that the definition of "coordinator" does not really fit the reality, because "some fringes of European bureaucracy do not wish to be controlled".
