13/12/2001 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday, the European Commission decided to grant further direct budgetary assistance of 30 million euro to the Palestinian Authority to enable it to tackle the problems of short-term cash-flows caused by the stop to monthly transfers of tax revenue (VAT, customs duties) decreed by Israel in October 2000. The aid, which covers the period December 2001-February 2002, should allow for the Palestinian Authority to function to some extent and provide basis public services. Its management will be controlled by the IMF.
