24/04/2001 (Agence Europe) - Ten years after its creation, the European Advisory Committee on Statistical Information in the Economic and Social Spheres (CEIES), whose job it is to provide an opinion on the relevance of the Community statistical programme, is organising a conference at the EU Council Secretariat on 26 and 27 April to try to respond to the new challenges raised by recent developments in society in the field of statistics. The challenges identified, that will be at the centre of the work, are: enlargement and integration; the information society; social exclusion and social cohesion; sustainable development.
