Brussels, 24/04/2001 (Agence Europe) - At its meeting on Wednesday 25 April, the European Commission is to discuss the modalities for the debate on the future of Europe. You may recall that, at European level, the public debate was launched in Brussels on 5 March, by Swedish and Belgian Prime Ministers Goran Persson and Guy Verhofstadt - two successive presidencies of the EU Council - and by European Commission President Romano Prodi (see EUROPE of 8 March, p.4).
At the same time, the debate is opening in Member States, and some of them, like France, have provided for a fairly structured organisation (see EUROPE of 13 April, p. 5 and 23/24 April, p.3).
