11/04/2001 (Agence Europe) - For the first time since the Second World War, Bulgarian citizens will have opportunity, starting on 10 April, to travel freely in Europe without having to seek permission from their Government, nor a visa from the country they visit. To mark this key event a delegation headed by the Bulgarian Foreign Minister, Nadeja Mikhaïlova, crossed the Greek border and was welcomed by the Minister for Northern Greece, Georgos Paschalidis. This event comes in the wake of the decision taken by EU Justice/Home Affairs, last 15-16 March in Brussels, to adopt a list of third countries whose citizens need a visa to cross the Member States' external borders and to pass a list of countries who are under no such obligation. Bulgaria is included on the latter list (see EUROPE of 6 March p.7 and 8).
