The follow-up to the stabilisation and association process with the Balkan countries. This follow-up mechanism will notably cover the respect for the criteria outlined during the Zagreb summit.
European monitoring mission (EUMM) to the Balkans: the Council confirmed its nomination of Anoin Mac Unifradh to the head of the monitoring mission. He also approved the concluding of an agreement between the European Union and the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia over the conditions for the deployment of observers - especially over the safety of observers in the Presevo Valley.
Assistance programme with the Albanian police: in the framework of the assistance programme to the Western Balkans, the European Commission will assume as of 1 June the responsibility for the MAPE programme for assistance and training, which, until now, was the responsibility of the WEU.
