Brussels, 11/04/2001 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission authorised E.ON Energie, a German electricity company, to take sole control of its Swedish counterpart Sydkraft AB, in which it already holds a stake. The two groups mainly operate in their local market, Sydkraft nevertheless exercises, to a lesser extent, activities in other Nordic countries and certain Baltic countries. the Commission noted the merging of the two companies does not give rise to overlaps in activities, and thus made no objection.
