16/02/2001 (Agence Europe) - By adopting, on Thursday, during its plenary session in Strasbourg, the report by Caroline Lucas (Greens, British), the European Parliament approved the Council's draft decision that would mark the entry into force of the EU/Mexico partnership and liberalisation of trade agreement signed two years ago. The agreement had now been ratified by all of the national parliaments, which will allow for the entry into force of the liberalisation in the sectors which are not part of the Community competence (services, intellectual property, investment protection). The entry into force of the agreement will be finalised during the first joint Council meeting, on the sidelines of the General Affairs Council on 26 and 27 February in Brussels.
