05/10/2012 (Agence Europe) - EPP members call for respect of religious rights. On 4 October, MEPS from the EPP Group called for the EU to pay greater attention to the respect of religious rights in Bosnia-Herzegovina, underlining that the transnational initiatives of the Catholic Church could play an important role in the country's reconciliation. “The European Union should provide support for all religious minorities, including Catholics in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and fight for the respect of religious rights”, Jan Olbrycht (Poland) said, after a meeting with representatives from the Bosnian Catholic community. He said that “the Catholic Church in Bosnia and Herzegovina is an engine for reconciliation thanks to several initiatives that involve every citizen regardless of their nationality or religion”.
