14/12/2010 (Agence Europe) - Catherine Ashton still undecided about invitation from Weimar Triangle foreign affairs and defence ministers. EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton will be answering “in due course” the letter addressed to her by the foreign affairs and defence ministers of Poland, France and Germany, Ashton's spokesperson, Maja Kocijancic, announced on Tuesday 14 December. Kocijancic confirmed that the HR had received the letter which, among other things, called for her “personal investment” in favour of developing European security and defence policy (see EUROPE 10276). “We consider this letter as an important contribution to the debate on how military cooperation should continue to develop further”, Kocijancic said. On the subject of setting up a permanent EU planning capability, she affirmed that reflection was ongoing in the context of setting up a European External Action Service (EEAS).
