Irish referendum to take place on 2 October

Brussels, 08/07/2009 (Agence Europe) - The next Irish referendum on the Treaty of Lisbon will take place on Friday 2 October, Irish Prime Minister Brian Cowen announced on Wednesday 8 July before the parliament. "We are going back to the people to ask them to authorise Ireland to ratify the treaty and this referendum will take place on 2 October", he said.
