25/06/2009 (Agence Europe) - In a conclusions document adopted on Monday 22 June 2009, the EU Council of Ministers invited the European Commission to carry out within a reasonable timeframe an assessment of the existing control measures on carnation leaf-rollers and San José Scale; to carry out a proportionate Pest Risk Analysis to assist in this assessment, taking into account, in particular, existing experience and available scientific evidence including distribution data on carnation leaf-rollers and San José Scale within the EU; and to present, if appropriate, a proposal for EU legislation, taking into account the results of the assessment, including an amendment or repeal of the Council Directives on control of carnation leaf-roller and San Jose Scale.
