Brussels, 25/06/2009 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday 24 June, Gerhard Stahl, Secretary General of the Committee of the Regions (CoR) signed a statement of common interests with Pierre Baillet, Permanent Secretary of the Association des maires francophones (AIMF). The AIMF, a cooperation network chaired by Mayor of Paris Bertrand Delanoë, comprises the mayors of cities from France and other European countries, Quebec, North and continental Africa, Asia and the Pacific.
The aim of the agreement is to enhance dialogue between the European institutions, including the CoR, and AIMF local and regional authority partners, writes Delanoë in a press release. The text identifies key issues such as cooperation and development. The AIMF will also be invited to take part in structured dialogues organised by the CoR with members of the European Commission and in the decentralised cooperation conference organised by the CoR on 3-4 December. This statement is one of a series of agreements and action plans concluded since 2002 by the CoR and associations representing local and regional authorities.
