11/05/2009 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday 6 May, in Strasbourg, the European Parliament adopted (637 votes to 15 and 19 abstentions), Resolution B6-0285/2009 on the draft European Commission decision on creating an annual action programme for 2009 on the theme “non-state players and local authorities in development”. In the resolution, the Parliament calls on the Commission to specify criteria determining the existence “both legitimately and effectively” of a monopoly situation and for a European strategic programme to ensure continued financing of most useful measures. It also invites it to amend its draft in order to include European awareness projects on development issues in the enlarged EU and exchanges on education and development in the EU. (H.D./transl.jl)
