11/05/2009 (Agence Europe) - The European Medicines Agency has recommended that the shelf life of Tamiflu (Oseltamivir) capsules should be extended from five to seven years. Against a background of the new A/H1N1 human flu virus, the Agency also recommends that capsules that are already on the market may be used for up to two years after their current five-year expiry date. People who have boxes of the medicine which have passed their expiry date are asked not to throw them out because they could be useful in the event of a pandemic due to the new virus.
