China and EU hope to protect language learning

Brussels, 03/04/2009 (Agence Europe) - During a visit to China from 26 March to 1 April as part of the linguistic exchange programme between China and the European Union launched on 2 June 2008 (see EUROPE 9675), the commissioner for multilingualism, Leonard Orban, signed a declaration on multilingualism with the Chinese education minister, Zhou JI, in order to strengthen their cooperation in language learning.
