03/04/2009 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday 2 April, the European Parliament, accepting the recommendations of rapporteur Avril Doyle (EPP-ED, Ireland), approved the Council common position on the regulation establishing residue limits of pharmacologically active substances in foodstuffs of animal origin (see EUROEP 9809). The aim of the legislation is to limit consumers' exposure to these substances. The Common position is now deemed to have been formally adopted. (A.N./transl.rt)
