Brussels, 03/04/2009 (Agence Europe) - European Environment Commissioner Stavros Dimas will travel to Stockholm on Monday 6 April for talks with Swedish Environment Minister and forthcoming President of the Environment Council Andreas Carlgren on the environmental priorities of the incoming Swedish Presidency when Sweden takes over the reins from the Czech Republic in July.
Climate change will be at the heart of the discussions given that Dimas and Carlgren are
both to be chief negotiators for the EU at the UN climate conference in Copenhagen in December 2009,
at which a world agreement will be sought on combating global warming after 2012, when the Kyoto Protocol expires. (A.N./transl.rt)
