03/04/2009 (Agence Europe) - European Commission President José Manuel Barroso recently rejected a request from Bulgaria for teams of EU experts to be sent to the country to help its administration tackle corruption. The level of aid to be given so that the Bulgarian judicial and police systems can improve is beginning to become tiresome for member states, Barroso indicated in his letter to Bulgarian Prime Minister Sergei Stanichev. To encourage member states to provide more in the way of experts and funding, Barroso went on, tangible results were required, and there had to be assurances that the expertise provided would be used effectively.
